Women’s Centre for Change, (WCC) Penang
Information on violence against women (domestic violence, rape, child sexual abuse and sexual harassment), and on what to do if such violence occurs. Campaigns, brochures and publications on the laws relating to violence, including for domestic violence, rape, and sexual harassment. Public Education materials can be ordered.

All Women’s Action Society (AWAM)
Provides information in both Bahasa Malaysia and English on violence against women, particularly on rape. AWAM also has a legal information centre which offers free legal advice in areas of family, immigration and labour law. They also conduct a support group for survivors of rape.

Sisters in Islam
Women interested in women’s rights in Islam will find this site an informative one, tackling current issues relevant to Muslim women, on law and equality, including the Domestic Violence Act.

The Malaysian AIDS Council (MAC) is committed to creating an environment free from the negative impact of HIV/AIDS for Malaysia and her people, through and with its affiliates by strengthening, mobilizing and representing them. Education and Research Association for Consumers Malaysia site provides useful information on consumer rights and protection, as well as promotes governmental accountability on related issues. They are also engaged in several community based programmes and activities that incorporates a gender perspective to their analysis.

UNIFEM Global Campaign to Eliminate Violence Against Women
UNIFEM’s campaign to raise public awareness of violence against women as a violation of human rights, and to do advocacy for increased action by governments and civil society. You can learn about the Asia region campaign on Violence Against Women and join the virtual working group to ‘end violence’.

United Nations: Violence Against Women
Has information on violence against women, on definitions and types of abuse, the work of the UN, examples of efforts to criminalise violence against women, and commitments by various governments to eradicate violence against women.

Feminist Majority Foundation
Provides over 90 links on violence against women, on domestic violence, rape, sexual assault, stalking, emotional abuse, support for survivors, facts on abuse, legal resources and much more.

Women’s Aid Federation
This site provides advice and support to victims of violence, offers information on publications and training, does education and advocacy, and provides links to other resources on Violence Against Women on the Internet.It also runs a national helpline to give advice, information, support and refuge referral to women and children experiencing domestic violence.

Isis International Manila

This is a portal to the women’s organisations in Malaysia under the National Council of Women’s Organisations (NCWO), that was created in conjunction with the networking women project, which aims to empower women through IT.

UNIFEM: Gender and AIDS
A gender and HIV/AIDS web portal that serves as an on-line resource center for resources that address the gender dimensions of the epidemic. Women, Law and Development International is a non-profit, non-governmental organisation working in partnership with other organisations to identify legal, cultural and economic barriers to women’s equality and rights. Women Living Under Muslim Laws
Written in English and French, this site is an international network that provides information, solidarity and support for all women whose lives are shaped, conditioned or governed by laws and customs said to derive from Islam.

This is part of Britain’s Social Science Information Gateway and provides access to UK and international legal studies, articles and publications on domestic violence and other issues of women in law. A community website under Mothers for Mothers, this site is set up by working and single parents in Malaysia for support and exchange of experiences. It has articles, forums, a chatroom and viewpoints from both mothers and fathers.

Actions to Eliminate Violence Against Women – Telling the Stories
The United Nations Fund for Women (UNIFEM) has set up a special Trust Fund to support actions to eliminate violence against women. Some recipients of the fund share experiences from their efforts to eradicate violence against women.
